&
in person
Children build strength, body awareness, social skills and self-confidence through yoga. With the tools they learn in yoga, children become more aware of their own emotions and more understanding of other people. We practice yoga poses, play games, dance, sing songs, and make goofy noises. Most importantly, we have fun!
Breathing
Try Square Breathing
Sama Vritti, also known as square breathing, is a simple but effective practice for slowing down your breath and your mind. Breathe in for a count of 4; hold the breath in for 4; breathe out for a count of 4; hold empty for 4. Repeat a few times until you feel more relaxed and calm.
Poses
Learn Upward-Facing Dog Pose (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana)
Put your hands down on the floor and step your feet back. Let your hips drop but don't let your knees touch the floor. Look forward and take a deep breath in and out.
Meditation
Practice Loving Kindness Meditation
Sit up tall and if you can, close your eyes. Let your breath become slow and steady. Imagine yourself. Imagine your face, your hair, what you are wearing. Think of something you’re really good at and something you’re still learning. Say quietly to yourself: “May I be happy, may I be healthy, may I be safe, may I know that all is well.” Breathe in and out a few times and open your eyes.
